87 740 gle - Timing Belt?

87 740 gle - Timing Belt?
Had the car stall on me today taking a guess from the sound it's making & no spark from the coil that it may be the timing belt. My Haynes manual doesn't cover the 4 cyl engine just the six. The six cyl has a timing chain, does anyone know if the 4 cyl has a belt instead of a chain?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 4 cylinder is a belt.
If it broke you can install a new one and go.
Pull back the upper cover and crank it over and see if the gear is moving.
Or remove the oil cap and look inside at the cam. Then have someone crank it over and see if the cam moves.
