Default '90 740 GLE Wagon...making clicking noise in sync with engine

I bought my car for $900 with the odo stopped at 227k mi. As you can imagine, there are a lot of creaks, cracks, and noises. However this particular noise is making me anxious. It sounds like a clicking noise that is in sync with the firing cyllinders.

It sounds like a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle. The faster you pedal, the faster the clicking.

Any ideas?

Most likely it is the valve tapping. IT is normal (these cars have some very nosiy parts), but I would suggest a valve adjustment. It is pretty simple to do, you just need the tools to open the vavle cover, and you need to do some adding and subtracting. IPD sells a kit, and for $60 I say it is worth every penny.

I had a clicking on my 1987 740T. Then, I noticed my waterpump was leaking fluid. Once I replaced the waterpump, the clicking noise went away. Strange!
