91 740 regina idle help
Hello everyone,
I just bought a 1991 Volvo 740 wagon (I believe regina). very new to the platform, so I have some questions. Ever since I bought the car, it has idled very high in Park and Nuetral (~1500rpm), with occasional misfires. In Drive and Reverse, it runs completely fine. I assume it has something to do with the IAC, which is what I have some questions about. I am unsure if the iac hoses are routed right. the outlet hose runs into the intake manifold (from the bottom of the iac), and the inlet hose runs into the intake pipe several inches before the throttle body (from the front of the iac). Also noticed there is a hole on the left side of my intake air box that looks like a hose would fit, is that supposed to just stay open? smoke tested it, and found a leak at the throttle body shaft on both sides, other than that no vacuum leaks. replaced it with a low milage used one, and it still has a vacuum leak (the smoke tester needs to build a good amount of pressure). looked up a diagram, and it appears the side of the throttle body that has the spring doesnt have a seal i could replace. I have cleaned the iacv and found no difference.
So my questions are:
1. is my iacv routed correctly?
2. is the hole on the left side of my intake air box supposed to just stay open? if not, where should it be routed?
3. Is it normal for the throttle body shaft to have a vacuum leak when smoke tested. ( just want to make sure before I throw another one at it/rebuild it)
any insight would be helpful, and ill ask any questions. thank you!
