Unhappy 91 740 SW B230 Water Pump Leak! Help

Need advice!

Have a 91 volvo 740 wagon (my 5th breadbox) and really love the car but having issues. had stalling problem but solved it (fuel pump relay and radio noise suppressor relay) now is leaking from top of water pump very slightly. have heard there is a "mushroom" seal where pump meets head that can go bad.

Any ideas. My wife drives 100 miles for work 5 days a week and needs a reliable car.

All advice is appreciated

take a look at #8:
Changing a Volvo B230F Water Pump

basically you have to apply upward force on the pump to get it to seal ...

You have to remove the pump to change that seal, very common failure item. Doesn't mean the pump is bad, just that 10 cent seal... Those seals rarely leak much, usually when cold, then as the head warms up they expand and stop leaking, so you have some time... but keep an eye on it--don't want to lose too much coolant and overheat it!
