Default 92 940GL Front Panel Removal

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to get my brick inspected and after a lot of DIY exhaust work (which members here helped me out with, thanks!) the only thing keeping it from passing is the 'ABS' light in the front panel. A buddy of mine fried the ABS unit years ago when the moron jumped my car with the cables backwards. Regardless, I've already dropped enough money on a new Cat, O2 sensor and other exhaust parts so I'm not about to purchase a new ABS unit so I've decided Im just going to remove the indicator bulb.

I assume that I need to remove the front panel in order to do this. If that's the case does anyone know where to start and/or have an online resource that I could look through to get the job done so I don't have to keep pestering you guys? Also, if there is an easier way to go about this like snipping a wire please let me know.

Thanks!

I don't know if they changed the way to get in, but on a 89 740, there are two screws hidden underneath some trim next to the odometer button/dial things on the left and the right sides of the gauge cluster.

They changed the cluster in 91. Prior to that a challenged monkey could pull them. Beginning in 91, there are two slots on the inner sides of the cluster that hide clips...fumble with them enough and it will come out. I ended up removing the driver's outboard a/c vent (pops right out) and was able to examine the inner workings sufficiently to remove it. Just another example of Volvo losing sight of their original goal of building a car that could be worked on.
