Default 940 Heat not working

Hello,

new to the forum so sorry if the 940 is not similar to the 960, but thought I might try to post this in here. If anyone has any advice on trying to get the heat fixed in my car before winter hits, I'd appreciate it.

Next week I'm getting a coolant flush and am hoping that, by some off chance, fix any minor issue that may be causing it, whether it be build up is restricting coolant from reaching the heater core, or if it'll help revive some stubborn hose doing the same thing.

If anyone has any experience working on a 940 or finding a good mechanic, let me know. I'm flat broke but this needs to get fixed!

One thing I would look at is your thermostat. It being stuck in the "open" position would cause an overcooling situation thus reducing the efficiency of your heater amongst other things such as fuel economy, oil longevity, and could cause sludge buildup to name a few. A new thermostat and gasket is cheap enough to notstarve the moths in your wallet.

Edited for spelling... :P

Turns out, I was just low on coolant. I threw a couple cups of water in there and it is working now. I'm getting my coolant flushed next week so it should be in even better shape then! Thanks for the heads up on the thermostat though. Appreciate any advice, and with the age and mileage of my car I'm sure there will be more issues in the future. Cya!
