The light comes on half the time and usually goes away after 5 minutes of driving. Sometimes the car will jump into overdrive when on the highway and takes about 3,500 RPMs to do 70MPH normally done at about 3,000 RPM. This is not an everytime sort of thing...sometimes the car will not display the light or have any problems, other times it will. Checked the transmission fluid and oil, both full.
Any recomendations before I take the car to the mechanic? I'd like to not have to figure out a way to get to/from work while the mechanic dicks around on other cars and let's mine just sit there. Last time he had it a week to replace the power steering system and change 2 tires.

 

Does this happen on its own or are you pressing the OD button on the shifter ****?

I had a problem with a bad OD relay. Buying and installing a new one fixed the problem.

Check that before you do anything and wait for the more knowledgeable people to respond.
