1989 740 gl ac problem--just of late my cool air coming out of ac goes on and off randomly for about 45 seconds on all levels of fan.In rush hour traffic it just isn't cooling at proper cool during stand stills.Very scary as atlanta traffic sucks and it's 91 out today.Any ideas?My freon is good.

 

Are you 100% sure the Freon is full?

You might have a bad sensor as well.

Is the cooling fan coming on?

 

I know I posted twice on this venue but I was trying to get my question on to the regular forum, not necessarily 740 segment--and couldn't figure out how to delete the second same question.My computer skills are not the best--sorry-----but I will pose the three responses to my mechanic the tech kindly suggested.Thank you

 

I just overhauled the entire A/C system in a 740. It sounds like your compressor is cutting in and out, which can be the result of many things.

Do you have gauges to read the pressures of the A/C high and low side?
