They are all brand new copper plugs. I just put them in maybe 2 weeks ago. Anything else it might be. What is the procedure for setting the timing with the timing light? I read that you want to set it when its at 3k rpm's. That don't sound right to me. I set it the first time with it warmed up at idle. It was set at 12 degrees on the timing gun... Am i missing something? It ran perfectly smooth and had power till about 10 minutes down the freeway and the power started to drop so i pulled over and popped the hood and the manifold was red.

bad spark plug wire, a bad rotor? something making one of the cylinders not fully combust, so unburned fuel-air from a cyl is hitting hot exhaust and burning in the pipes. I suppose it also could be from the engine running generally way-too rich
do note... exhaust manifolds glowing dull red immediately after a hard workout, thats not abnormal, but bright cherry red usually means unburned fuel.
I just paged back, this is an 82? so its CIS (k-jetronics) rather than EFI (lh) ? I know considerably *less* about Volvo CIS/K-Jet than I do about LH EFI systems.
I'd still pull those plugs and compare them. if one is considerably different than the other 3, I'd investigate why. if you get new spark plug wires, get the Bougicord set, way more appropriate for these cars than anything you'll find in a bigbox auto store chain.

(note, it appears FCP at least sells the bougicord coil wire seeprately, https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...44-245-1306696 )

Yes it is an 82. The wires are new cap is new rotor is new. It only started doing this after the timing belt snapped and i did the new timing belt and tensioner. I swapped all the wires cap plugs and rotor out aagain when i did the timing belt last week. At least is not dumping out oil anymore. How do i turn the fuel down?

adjusting CIS is pretty tricky, and requires a fuel pressure differential gauge setup, not many folks except old euro-car mechanics have these anymore as the last CIS cars were made in the 80s. don't adjust ANYthing unless you KNOW its the root cause, and can measure the incorrect setting, and correct it. random tinkering will far more likely make things worse.
