Well I ended up changing out my steering rack again today.[&:] The rebuilt one I put on my car 15 months ago started clunking from the left side about a month ago. So last week I pulled the tie rod boots back and had my co-worker grab the tire and rock it back and forth. The inner part of the rack was loose clunking around in the housing. I called the place I bought it from and they shipped me a new one for free (thank goodness). They said it was the first one they had go bad so they're anxious to get it back and see what happened to it.

Oh and one more thing if anyone else ever has to change their steering rack, do the motor mounts after the rack is removed. I replaced both motor mounts with barely a struggle so that is definitely the time to do those too!!

All in all it wasn't too bad, I was just dreading do the job twice because it wasn't very fun the first time I did it. Fortunately the company (car steering wholesale) stood behind their product and shipped me a new one with no questions asked. Tomorrow I'm off to discount tire to get it aligned and 4 new tires, the old girl isn't going to know how to act....

Oh heck no!!!! I'm doing it laying on a cold concrete floor. If this one goes bad I'll find out where you work and bring it to you......

the time when my friend changed his steering rack, i tell you it's not an easy job... I swear i won't lift a finger when i have to change for a new one..anyway i knew someone who can do it.
