I recently installed an AW-71 transmission in my 85 740. It had the ZF-22 tranny. The only problem I have is I don't know how to wire the overdrive circuit. I have the shifter from the overdrive car, but it is not yet installed. There are 2 wires I need to figure out. One from the switch and one to the transmission. Unfortunately I did not know where to look for the solinoid on the car I pulled the transmission from. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this circuit? I believe I will need to obtain the solenoid.

 

The overdrive solenoid is on the side of the transmission, mounted vertically. Has one wire coming out the top of it. The ADubs use an od relay, generally mounted in the fuse tray. Since you're going aftermarket, you could put it anywhere convenient.
