Car deck and High Idle
Hey, new to the forums here... and I don't even own a volvo... never have and probably wont until i'm buying them for my children... (the safety thing).
Anyways, the reason i've registered and posted is because my girlfriend owns a 1991 740 GL, and I have a few questions.
I'll get to the mechanical matter first.
For sometime now, her 740 has been idling 2-300 rpms above normal and has had trouble upshifting. The transmission fluid is low and requires immeadiate replacement. Will that fix the problem? could it be anything else?
Also, im planning a litle suprise for her this weekend. I have a car deck i'm not using and i'm considering breaking into her car and throwing it in to replace her tape deck. I have installed stereo's in my Cavalier and SRT-4 but havn't worked on anything like a Volvo. I'm assuming, or hoping I should say, that it would be fairly similar to any other car. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could let me know of any common problems with removing parts of the dash and a rough estimate on how long it may take.
I plan to frequent these forums in the future in reference to my girlfriends car.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Car deck and High Idle
Try cleaning the throttle body for the idle.
Also check the Kickdown cable make sure it is adjusted properly and not seized.
For the Radio you might be in for a Long day.
First see if it has an Amp. If it does break out the wire and connectors. Also get the other install plugs from Circuit city or Best buy.
The radio should have tabs under the ***** to release the radio.
