My son had a tune up, new fuel pump, new engine mounts and several gaskets replaced. But now the car idles rough and stalls when your foot is taken off the gas pedal, it also has very slow acceleration and shifting is slow but the transmission seems to be working alright. My son gave the car to me and I'd hate to junk it for something possibly simple. Please help if anyone has info on these problems.

Fuel filters changed as well?

 

when someone did the air filter change may have pull the wires from the Van air meter,just enought to not give you correct reading. The plug that goes right in the air box, pull rubber booth back and check. any engine lights ,codes? Vacuum leaks?

 

its not called van meter, itas called Mass air flow sensor. It can be expensive if you need a new one. I am pretty sure you can test it with a dvom

 

try cleaning the Idle air control valve. It helped with mine. Then go and clean the MAF and then clean the throttle body. If these three things dont fix the problem then look to the the fuel sensor relay thats with the fuses.

 

Look around for airleaks,loose hose ex ex .check your intank hose for cracks.I had an problem like that this hose had an crack in the rib ,I was going to replace the Amm and saw this hose has was cracked .I replaced it end of problems.

 

does the car have an iat? intake air tempertaure. if so check that maybe its running very lean is there any white smoke?
