I am in dire need of a spare tire for my 1991 740 (non-turbo).
It is a 5 lug 15 inch rim.
I have called all junk yards in my area and no one has any Volvo rims at all.
I have found online a few spares but they are for newer models.


So I have two questions:


1)What models of other Volvos have compatible rims/spares?


2)Are there any makes/models of other vehicles rims that are compatible?

 

The 740 stock wheel size uses a 5x108 bolt pattern with a 20mm offset (you'll see ET20 stamped somewhere on the factory rims to confirm). 940s and 960s have the same bolt pattern but have slightly different offsets (vary by year/model from 15mm to 25mm). 5mm offset would fit the car but you'd probably want to use in pairs except for a temp spare. You can search for used wheels nationally via Cart-part.com and it will search junk yards within a region and you will find used. You can find refinished wheels at collisionwheel.com (probs nicer than what is on the car!). Third option is to post a "WTB" request or search the classified boards in the forum. Last idea is to trade your 740 for an 850 and I'd sell you a spare from mine :-)

 

That car came with a space saver spare but it can take a full size wheel/tire. Best bet is to go to a yard for older cars, like a Pik n Pull, they are plentiful there. You need a 15", a 14" won't do because of the ABS...

 

a 91/92 740 is virtually identical to a 91-95 940 except the rear trunk if its a sedan, and the seats. 960's pre-facelift (91-94) have the exact same wheel offset, too.
