Default couple Q's 240 sedan

have 89 240 dl sedan , service light is on been on since i got it last summer, now i noticed there is a hole right by my knee is that where the switch is to reset it? also my reverse lights dont work. today at auto zone i took the bulbs and the connectors in and they lit up so i have the right bulb and there doesnt appear to be corrosion on the circuit board , I am thinking could it be that my ex replaced the neutral safety switch and that has something to do with it? or someone had suggested i check the black wire by the console? all the other lights work. i havent had any other problems with the car , its been good to me. im just starting to get into fixing the volvo up a bit come spring. thanks joni

Only if you have very long arms. The service light reset switch is on the rear of the instrument cluster. Remove the sound proofing panel on the driver's side and reach up behind the cluster. When you feel the switch push it up.

The attachment shows where it is.

Before taking the gear shift console apart test to see if you have 12 volts at the reverse light connector at the bulb. Put the shift in R and turn the ignition to illuminate the dash lights. Don't start the engine. Although the bulbs and connectors checked out OK that does not mean there is power on the car.
