Default Dashboard light indicator won't go out

on my 1990 Volvo DL, I recently got rear ended with my back smashed up. One of the taillights was smashed which caused the dashboard light to come on e that indicates there is a light out somewhere. I got it fixed at a body shop and bought brand new tail lights. The tail lights work perfect, but the dashboard light still comes on when I brake(to indicate a bulb is out). However, I checked all the bulbs and they all work. Any suggestions?

All the corresponding bulbs should match... make sure they are all the same, that sensor is really sensitive to voltage discrepancies.

+1!!!!!! When the bulb out relays first came out, they were even pickier! When one bulb burned out, it was often necessary to replace all the bulbs on the circuit...occasionally it was necessary to match the brand! So...make sure they used an 1157 rather than a newer bulb and consider swapping the other brake light bulb(s).

I did replace in pairs...both tail lights are new. Strange, on the way home from work this morning the light didn't come on in the dashboard. So I hope the problem disappeared and won't come back.
