Does my 1980 245 have overdrive? I count 2 changes (3 gears), but have seen on other forums that an overdrive relay commonly fails. Short of looking for this relay, does anyone know if I should be expecting overdrive on this car's transmission?

 

I assume your car is automatic. You should have overdrive, however don't expect much from it unless your travelling at highway speeds. On your shift look for a little button on the left side of it. The button on the top changes gears, but the button on the left activates overdrive. When you press the button (if its there), an orange arrow should appear at the bottom of your dash. Overdrive is activated. If you don't have a little black button on your shift, chances are you don't have overdrive. I'm not sure about a 1980 Wagon...

 

Unless someone has changed the box for a later model you will have a 3 speed auto.

The 4 speed was fitted from '81/2.
