Default The dreaded tail light issue....

Hello all, now I did a search of various forums and there seems to be an issue with the 240 as it gets older withe the break lights, is that correct? most likely with the circuit board? and the fix the problem I need to order one from IPD or Volvo right? The previous owner "fixed" my '89 by removing the break light bulbs entirely and removing the warring light from the dash as well. Great fix. Any suggestions? or should I just order a new "board"? Thanks, and God bless.

It is the mylar circuit board that wears out. The bulb socket to the mylar fails. You can hard wire them to the mylar by soldering or solder directly to the wiring harness.
A new circuit board is another option. If you don't do the soldering fix, then yes... buy new.
Good luck

you can also use a pencil eraser on the copper connection at the bulb interface,, freshens up the contact. and also while the bulb is out, slightly bend up the tabs that will connect to the mylar circuit board.

Default tail light issues

Well, I went and ordered a new one from E-bay still in the Volvo box. So I hope that fixes the problem.
