Ok this is going to sound really lame but what engine (model) do I have in my wagon? its a 91 240 and the block is painted red so I gather its a red block but what model number is it B20?

Shame on you...you...you...noob!! HaHa...nah, everyone starts at the beginning...no shame in asking! Assuming you are in the US, you have a B230F engine cranking out 114 screaming horse power. The fuel injection system is most likely Bosch LH2.4 Jetronic (A few 91's got the 3.1 version), transmission if auto, is most likely an AW70 (the AW71, a more robust automatic was sometimes soldwith it). If manual, it is an M47.

The VIN will tell you where it was made and the motor (big choice there!). Volvo put other plates under the hood to tell you what brakes, steering rack, color code etc. Go here...
