I have used double sided tape on the lower door moulding on this 240 wagon of my daughters it is not 100% as far as long lasting. Any ideas on other adhesives. i did a blower motor replace and a vacumn line fell off so if i survive taking the seats out dash apart I'll come back to hear your response.

If you are referring to the 4-5" molding down by the rockers, I used polyurethance caulk/adhesive. It requires clamping for a few hours, more or less depending on how bent the piece is. A het gun will straighten it out if it has taken on a semi-permanent bend. Before using the poly, I tried a variety of lighter bodied adhesives w/o success. I was tempted to run some sheet metal screws in to it!

 

Thought about stainless sheet metal screws will try PL 400 polyeurathane adhesive clamped

 

I tried all those fixes on a badly rusted 245 and then a later 745. 84-86 Volvos were notorious rustbuckets. My 87 245 and now my 92 745 were much better - no rust at all.
Bottom line: Go to your Volvo dealer and get the OEM moulding clips. They work much better than the glue and tape and are cheaper. About $1.35 each. When the door moulding came off my 745 I followed that route, because I had to replace an entire rear window moulding at a cost of $35 because I didn’t immediately get new clips and do the job right.
Having learned my lesson I bought five new clips for the middle door moulding which had become loose. While prying the old, broken clips out was fairly easy, installing the new ones into the channel on which they slide was difficult. I finally hit on the idea of using a small socket and a hammer to seat the new clips firmly in the rail. Worked perfectly. The socket surrounds the new clip and evens the force. Be sure to support the moulding firmly else it will bend.

 

7's molding uses clips. The molding he is referring to is the 4" wide gray plastic on later 240's. There are no clips used from the factory...it is factory glued. Perhaps you're thinking of the 72" long, 1" wide rocker panel strips under the doors?
