Factory Radio Question
Volvo 740 GLE
I'm confused about what's input and output here:
There is one set of wires with 11 or more wires that are for the speakers and other devices, but there's an amplifier plug that goes directly into the stereo--what in the world could that do? Is this some sort of "pre-amp"? Wouldn't the speakers have to have an amplifier setup after the radio to get amplification?
(Also on the back is a female end for a cd plug, the antenna plug and space for an external device (all the way opposite the multi-wire adapter))
Does anyone have specifics on this?

RE: Factory Radio Question
The other set of wires is probably what turns the amp on or what sends the amp a signal that the sterio is still there or something. How many extra wires (in addition to the 11) are you talking about? Should be four? No idea what that other input could be on your sterio....might be the same concept though....anti theft?

RE: Factory Radio Question
ok, on the plug with 11 wires or so you have .
orange=12 v switched
red and green= 12 volts constant
black= ground
brown and brown w/green =front tweeter or dash speaker
grey and grey w/red = front dash speaker
cant remember either right or left
the 2 white w/yellow tracer wires have to stay together or the headlights will not work.
the rest of the wires god knows what the heck they are for......
as far as for the rest of the speakers you would have to by-pass the amplifier...but as Driftin V says
you would have to run new wires to the door speakers and rear.
aparently, the amp receives the on signal,sound signal from the "amp plug" at the rear of the stereo.
