Fuel Pump/Sender Assembly removal
Hey all,
92 Volvo 940 Regina... Is there some trick to getting this thing out? I've disconnected all the hoses, removed the retaining cap, now I'm at the part where I'm just supposed to slide the assembly away from the rubber seal. I can separate it from the rubber seal without much trouble, but getting the darned thing out of the tank is proving to be a pain. I can't even get it to slide out 1/2 inch! If I could get any movement at all, I could figure out a way to get it out of the access port. But I get 0 movement. Help!

Wow..they are usually much easier to remove than say, a 240's. Are you removing it to service the pump or the sender? The only thing that could normally hold it in would be if the sender float some how swung all the way up. It is necessary to "feed" the assembly in and out as the assembly is wider at some points than the hole. Same is true with 240's but the hole in the 240's metal tank is smaller.

As you pull turn it 30-45deg-left or right, gently lift and turn. Was frustrating first time here to, by now i can do it easily. For install, use plenty of light greaseon large rubber ring and threads on plastic tank. hope this helps.Make sure sock filter is pointing towards toward ( 9 o'clock and secure).
