Default How do you tell a K from an LH Jetronic System?

Getting to know my brand new '82 245 and its quirks like the Chrysler ignition and two different Jetronic systems used that year.

Aside from the more interesting question of how these two differ in terms of function, how can you tell which system is on your car?

I'd like to order the flame trap relocation kit from ipd, but they are different for the K and LH systems.

Thanks for any tips on how to tell which one is which.

Looking forward to lots of 240 fun,

- Jim

KJet injection, also called CI (constant injection) is mechanical injection. There are fuel lines going to the injectors, but no wiring. LH injection came in many editions. On 240's, LH 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4 with a bit of 3.1 at the last of the model run. 1982 was the first year to find LH2.0 in some Volvos. All turbo cars will be KJet. Most n/a cars will be KJet.
Here's a photo of a KJet B21F motor. Notice the large, flat plenum on the intake manifold...very distinctive...also, there are hard lines going from the fuel distributor to the injectors.

Here's a B23F...it's an 84 model but still the early 2.0 version of LH...the intake manifold is much smaller w/ no plenum. Also, there are wires going to each injector...

Default Thanks for that great description.

Yes, those are very distinctive, but I never would have known which was which. I definitely have the KJet system in this car.

I learn something new about this car everyday!
