Default Intermittent AC Problems

Have a 1993 940T with an A/C glitch. A/C compressor will not engage. I suspect the A/C relay but cannot locate the location of the relay. Have checked behind the ashtray (where the fuses are) but it does not appear to be there. So were is the blessed thing? Also I believe the relay part number is 9442933. If this is correct or incorrect can someone let me know. This appears to be a small problem but nevertheless a big headache. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

When the AC doesn't work on any car that I have the 1st thing I check is the amount of freon in the system. I get my set of gauges out and see if it is charged up to spec or if I am low on freon which will cause the compressor to not turn on or it will cycle. If you want to check the compressor just unplug the connector and put +12V on the line to see if the clutch engages. Both of these quick approaches will tell you what the primary issue is without buying any parts that may or may not fix the problem.

I don't believe there is an A/C relay, besides the fan one which doesn't directly affect A/C function. I check the compressor first by jumpering it from the plug on the drier, then check the refrigerant, etc.
