need help bad 91 940 turbo (posted in 2010)

Default need help bad 91 940 turbo (posted in 2010)

i just bought new battery new altnator and my battery is still dying took volt meter to both of them the alt is Not putting out the right voltage does anyone have a diagram of how wires are suppose to be maybe that's it and how do you remove timing belt cover thanks

you may want to perform a charging system voltage drop test to make sure there isn't some sort of short or burned out wires (added resistance) in your charging system. start the vehicle. set your meter to vd dc. put one lead on positive terminal of the battery and the other on the positive terminal of the alternator. the voltage drop of this circuit should be more than .5v. then take a lead and place it on the alternator case which is used as the ground for the alternator. then place the other lead on the neg. battery terminal. max voltage drop should be .2v. hope this helps. if too much voltage drop occurs in both of these tests you will need to check the wires and narrow it down to maybe the fuse box or a burned wire. hope this helps.
