need some insight
i have a 92 volvo 240 great running car however just the other day i had it lose power on me while driving all the lights came on and lost power . i pulled over turned it off and then turned it back on and it fired right up then i drove it to my friends where it did the same thing again i left it for the weekend and when i came back it fired right up but the check engine light was on.l so we jump in and drove it because i wanted him to see what it was doing drove it three miles never an issue..the code was 144 which has to do with the ecu. so i left it there that night and my dad and i went back and got it the next day and saw no issue my friend even unplugged the battery to clean it and then of course no code not even when he tested it ..since then the check engine light wont come on again ive drove it 30 miles total probly my dad has looked for shorts we find nothing todya when i went to drive it around it had a little issue starting sounded like the air mass sensor issue again.. but i drove it 6 miles stop turned it off went to turn it back on and it refused to start a few times but after a few minutes did. but it was running almost half way hot which is odd for these cars for a short trip ..does anyone have experience that can tell me where to hve my dad look for the short and i drive this thing 90 miles to and from work do you think she can still do it
Take a look at your crank position sensor (CPS). It provides the signal to both the engine control unit (ECU) and the ignition control unit (ICU). The CPS provides information relating to the position of the crankshaft and is necessary for the ECU for firing the injectors and the ICU for providing the timing for the spark plugs.
The CPS itself is located on the top of the bell housing where the engine and transmission meet. It has a fat black coax wire that runs to a connector on the firewall. If insulation is cracked and flaking off of the wire, then most likely this is the cause of your intermittent stalling. Replacing isn't too difficult other than the single 10mm retaining bolt is in an awkward position.

thanks for helping we will be checking that as soon as possible. i also read that bad fuse box thing will do this as well? or a fuel relay which i think its doubtful because my car never stuttered like out of fuel she just like lost power wich of course caused no gas with the gas pedal. but im looking up you tube video on how to find this sensor and im going to find it myself tomorrow and check it out then check the fuse box i was pleased to see the sensor is not that much it sounded very spendy

The fuel pump relay is behind the glove box and easy to get to. When i bought my '92 240 I found a fpr in the glove box dated from 1992 ( probably the original) and the one actually in use it's dated 2004. Maybe you should check the date on your fpr...see if it's been replaced at some point.
