Need some kickdown cable help
Hey all i had asked a dedicated AW transmission group about this so I'll just copy paste This little section of what I posted there
-Quick kickdown cable question, swapped out my 82' 240's old BW-55 for an AW-71L from a 740, the kickdown cable on the 71 is too long , would the kickdown from the 55 fit?
My thought is yeah probably but I figured I'd check in and ask rather than swap em and realize "well that 55 cable is too short"-
For reference I'm a 1982 240 , was a B19E before but threw in a 2.3 block and made it a B230E instead
having been frantically hunting information i'm fairly certain that NO the BW55 cable won't fit, so i've been following the trail of a cable that DOES fit.
when I first did the swap around I tried snipping the AW71 cable to make it shorter then using a cable joiner, technically worked, but it's not the most graceful solution so I'm wanting to try fix that proper when I take the engine out to do rear oil seal.
one of the responses I got from the Aisin group said that I could potentially use an B230f's AW kickdown cable (1239332) been searching around on it and it just doesn't seem right the last unsheathed section that hooks up to the control pulley looks too long based on the sellers pictures. measurements and picture provided by skandix as well https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...ssion/1024032/ also seem like it'd be too long it's a fairly short something around 90-100mm length of cable outside of the sheath on the E Engine
but despite frantically searching for hours I can't seem to find anything about a kickdown cable specifically for a B230E - AW70/71 every search kept bringing me back to the F cable, far as I can tell from information searching that Engine/transmission combo DID exist, so there's defo a cable for it, but can't find anything about such a cable existing except for it looping back to the F cable
VP autoparts and the occasional Ebay listing seems to think it can fit to the E engine whereas some listings and the likes of IPD,SKANDIX say no it's just the F
tried looking at some pictures of the F and E setups and I'm a little more confident the F cable is the right one, they SEEM right. but for what pics I could find the angle of the shots didn't do enough to entirely convince me It's the same cable. I just can't shake the "that isn't right" feeling
In comes you clever lads
Anyone know for definite that the B230 F And B230 E use the same cable for the AW70/71 ? I will feel like an absolute moron if they do, but it'd mean I can order one and stop panic searching
Cheers
