Hey everyone, just bought myself a manual 240. Always wanted to have one.
She’s a bit dinged up, but drives fine and just passed CA smog.
My question to you is, is this car something worth fixing up? How much do you think body work would be? I have no tools/place to work on it here so would have to take it someplace.
A bit difficult to see in the photos, but it had an accident some years back, and the whole front has shifted a bit to the side. Mechanically sound though
Appreciate any input! I’m a Swede living in San Francisco, so very happy to have a Volvo to drive around in. Have a -87 740 GLE back home.
The body looks pretty needy, with much extensive work needed far beyond what the car is worth. The front shift may require frame machine work which is costly. You just bought it so you don't have any sentimental attachments. I'd just drive it if you don't care for the cosmetics, forget about making it beautiful.

Congratulations -
You have bought what is called here in America a "totaled" car. (you can see the hood does not line up where the front end is pushed to one side, that's due to a bent frame) If the repairs to fix the body cost 70% or more than the car is worth, the insurance company will total the car.
So drive it, when it breaks or needs more than a couple of hundred dollars to fix - throw it away and find something different.
