I guess my 1st question would be what are you considering to be better. To improve the system if it was an R12 and now going to 134 you need to make both the condenser and the evaporator larger. You would also need to get a new compressor and should replace all of the hoses and receiver/dryer.
Anything short of that isn't worth just changing the condenser.

Default better

First, I not going to use 134a. I know I here good thing and bad. Doesnt matter Im using Duracool. Yes I know that its flammable so skip that. But I have a new compressor, drier, lines, TXV valve, and electric fan.
I have read alot about using a parallel condenser is big upgrade comepared to 1990 factory one. Just curious if this condenser is even close of fitting surely somebody has upgraded to parallel? Thanks

Simple just measure the width/height of your radiator and see if the new unit is the same or smaller. Then fabricate some brackets.

duracool and other such "HC12" propane+butane mixes have cooling properties quite similar to R12, and should get things frosty cold.

what car is this? the under-dash HVAC 'cabinet' is *very* different between a 240, and a 740/940. to install a larger evaporator would require a larger HVAC box, and more air flow, which means a bigger fan and larger vents.

on the 240 the fan is in the middle directly behind the center console, and the evaporator and heater core are sandwiched in front of it (cowl intake -> heater+evap -> fan -> vents).

on the 740/940, the fan is behind/below the glovebox, and the evaporator and heater core are between it and the central console air distribution box. The air ducting is more modern and well designed. I found the HVAC worked way better on my 1992 740T than it ever did on our 1987 240. the 7/9 fan is much quieter, moves more air, and the heat and AC controls work better.

oh, worth noting, in 1992, the 7/9 turbos got a bigger radiator and condenser, I don't know about the N/A cars.... they lost the mechanical fan and gained a better electric fan. this necessitated some changes in the bracket and frame that holds it

I have 90 240. I believe there is a upgrade evaporator. Im really dont want to tackle the fan/evaporator upgrade. I do have a new expansion valve ready to install. Its marked 134a, the adjustment is 7 turns out. Im thinking that the adjustment for R12a should be 2.5 turns out. Would like to confirm thats right? Thanks for help.
