Possible Bad Steering Rack

Possible Bad Steering Rack
I was just reading up on a few other threads and saw that if your car turns easier to one side than it does to the other, then normally its the rack. When im driving and let go of the wheel at 50, it strays to the center line a small amount and then corrects and kinda swings back to the white line where then i have to grab the wheel and correct it to stay on the road. Its gotten progressively worst since Ive owned the car, the past 2 months. I changed out the power steering fluid about 2 weeks ago, it was very thick, black, and milky, and now its nice and red and runs smoother, the motor doesnt whine AS much, but now im noticing the problems which i think are the rack. I saw volvoguy say that you can get a rebuilt one on ebay for 150, is that something not terribly hard to install? or whats the worst case senario if i let it go and didnt fix it?

I sent out the rack in the 244 to Jorgen for a rebuilding. I can let you know how their work is once I get it back and on the car.
The rack was fairly simple to remove on the 244. I don't think the 900 is any different. You do need to press out the ball joints, so that tool is needed. Then you remove the ball joints, loosen the two banjo bolts, which feed fluid to the rack, on the rack and let it drian. Then you move the steering wheel from lock to lock a couple times to drain the rack. Once you remove the banjo bolts from the rack, cap the holes so no dirt or grim gets in. Then you center the rack with the wheel and lock it. Then you undo the bolt (has a pin on the bolt) on the ujoint on the shaft, and gently pry the clamp. Then undo the c clamp on pass side of rack and undo the bolt holding the driver side on. Carefully pull rack out of the car.
