Possible fuel problem
Hi all! Been a while since I've been here, but may daughter's 1989 240 has had so few problems, I don't find myself needing help very often. Such is not the case today, however.
Daughter starts to head off for school and comes back in the house saying that her car won't start. I go out and check. Turn the key and the car starts right up, just like normal. After about 15 seconds or so the engine starts sputtering and stumbling and dies. Turn the key again and the same thing happens.
It seems like a fuel problem to me. I am suspecting the pump in the fuel tank because it seems to me that if it were the high pressure pump, the car wouldn't start at all. Could also be the filter, I suppose.
What do you think? Am I on the right track?

Duh...
Guess I should have done a search first. By doing so I found that it is probably a bad MAF sensor. Got a used replacement coming this afternoon. I'll post up the results when I put it in.

I feel like I'm talking to myself....
Yes, it was the MAF. Thanks to all who responded to my post. Uh..... that would only be me! Seriously, thanks to all who have gone before me and made their solutions available through the search function. The old 240 is running fine now.

Glad you got it running.
I was going to reply but then you posted about the Mass Flow before I could reply.

I do have another question about rear bushings. I'll do the search first!

The torque rod or the trailing arm bushings?
The torque rod or the trailing arm bushings?
The torque rods aren't that bad.
The trailing arms are pretty bad you need a special tool like this one to prevent the control arm from collapsing.

You could buy these adjustable torque rods and install them or just replace the bushings.
But you will need a press to do just the bushings.
