Default Rear seal leak symptoms

I noticed a small oil drip at the bottom of the engine/transmission bracket on my '93 Turbo Wagon. At first I thought it was the classic rear seal leaking but I took off the 2 small, plastic grates that snap into the bell housing and felt around the torque converter and it's bone dry in there. If the rear seal was leaking shouldn't that area(inside the bell housing) be covered in oil?

If the rear main is leaking, the oil would stay on the engine side of your flex plate (flywheel) and not necessarily accumulate inside of the bell housing. If the trans input seal was leaking - then the bell housing would be wet.

That makes sense. I forgot to mention that it's oil not tranny fluid and the engine side seems to be dry also. Also the oil collects on the passenger side of the bracket and eventually drips down to the lowest point. With a engine seal leak would it tend to fling the oil to one side or everywhere? Thanks
