Rear engine seal leak
Tried Bars on my rear main seal leak and it did not do anything. Still had to replace rear main. Worth a try though. There is one out there that offers a money back guarentee. Tried it too, lost the receipt.
I guess it would depend on whether the seal is ruptured in a spot from pressure, or has just shrunk from drying out.

I personally never use any form of additive-type sealants, as there is a good chance of contaminating what's alreadyin there (oil, fluid, coolant, etc).
As towheelsup's case, the leak might have been due to minor seal wear and Bar's stuff might have done the trick. This, however may not apply to other forms of leaks. You can try it and watch what happens for a week, and if the leak persists, I would replace the seal or if you cannot afford the repair immediately, you can defer it by keep adding oil until you can afford the repair. Should you decide to take this route, be sure to keep at least 2 quarts of oil at all times in your trunk and NEVER let it go low on oil. Even though these engines are noted for durability, they are extremely sensitive to low/poor quality oil.
If you do not have necessary fixtures & tools to replace the seal, let a pro do it for you. If you do have necessary equipment, however, Robrike's post would be your mentor.
