Reset Odometer Mileage

Reset Odometer Mileage
I have a working DL-240 1992 cluster.
Can I reset the odometer mileage to the existing mileage of the car on a newwly installed cluster? Old cluster odometer sometimes works (stops and goes) and I am tired of trying to determine what is wrong. New white gear, air blown many times, meticulously inspected for "debris" and "broken parts", signal present from differential, good solder connections throughout.
I am hoping I can rotate (carefully) the digits to reflect the correct mileage of the car. Can I do this w/o impact to odometer operation? Rotation of digits seems very easy and may correct the synchronization between TRIP odometer and REAL odometer.
Thx...great people, great knowledge, great VOLVOs

Well, yeah, two ways to do that. Disassemble the speedo completely and turn the gears to what you want them to be, (a lot of work) or get a pick and click, click, move the digits against the resistance of the plastic stops which may result in breakage but has never happened to me... There's a kind of a mid point stop in between each click, make sure that they line up.
