stalling warm start
Having an issues where my '91 lh2.4 240 stalls on warm starts. I can keep it running by feathering the gas for about 15-20 seconds. After that it idles nice and smoothly. On cold starts it is able to stay running but idles fairly low, if i was guessing around 5-600rpm. No CEL
maybe your cold start injector isn't working?
maybe your idle air control valve isn't working?
a cold car should idle about 1000-1200 RPM, and a warmed up car 700-750 RPM. warmed up, with all accessories turned off, if you disconnect the IAC, it should idle about 600RPM (and any power accessories like A/C might stall it), with the IAC plugged in, that 700-750 RPM idle should be rock solid, and handle headlights, A/C and everything on full blast. and still idle 700-750 RPM.

I thought they had gotten rid of the cold start injectors by this point? I just purchased the car a couple of days ago so I probably need to give it a good once-over and clean the throttle body and make sure the iac valve is working and leak free.

Decided to go take a look and sure enough it does have a cold start injector hidden on the bottom side of the intake. I guess I just assumed that all of the lh 2.4s didn't have them since my other Volvo (a '93 240) doesn't have one.
if you're going to pull the throttle body and the IAC, it would be a good idea to have a new throttle body gasket on hand, as well as new IAC hoses as they tend to crack when removed from a 25 year old car.
Yea good call. Pretty sure its the IAC valve itself that is giving me the issue, idle doesn't change whether it is plugged in or not. Do these things usually just go bad and require replacement, or is it something that can be cleaned up and reinstalled?
the IAC is not activated if the idle switch (throttle position switch) doesn't close
Throttle switch was working. Removed and cleaned the iac valve/ throttle body and put some new hoses on and the problem seems to be resolved. Now on to attempting to get to A/c system fixed, Thanks guys!
