Default Steering column making noise right behind where horn is

So recently my Volvo 240 my steering wheel starting making a noise when turning. But it doesn't sound from the engine just right behind the steering wheel. But this seemed to happen overnight. My car has sat (my dad turned on whilst I was gone) but have been on vaca for two weeks and live in the south. So I'm thinking making humidity??? It's been real hot here and don't drive my
Car long distance. Plus it's never made a noise up until recently.

Any ideas? My Volvo only had 71k miles so I hope it's nothing more then parts expanding due to heat.

I believe the steering column is part of the normal lubrication check list. Just get some spray white lithium grease.

I would check the fluid level on your power steering. It probably isn't that but it is fast to check and rules out a few possible issues with the steering.

Please describe better the noise you get so that someone can help you: type, (click, clunk, snap, grind, slap,) frequency, type of turn, duration, more exact location, etc.

Its kinds one of those things you just figure out, being as all the joints are exposed.

open the door, get on your back
remove the felt cover and the knee bolster and take a look at everything that moves.

check out this photo of the steering column as reference but also pay attention to where the steering wheel attaches. you will need to take the covers off the top and bottom of the steering wheel and or remove the steering wheel.
