Timing belt replacement
I am looking for any information having to do with timing belt replacement (i.e. tutorials, videos, text, etc.)
I have a 1991 240 and I will be replacing the water pump soon and wanted to see if there were any DIY links pertaining to the timing belt.
Thanks,
MJ

Done about three of these so far.
Be sure to replace the tensioner pulley when you do the belt. These are typically included in a 'timing belt kit'.
Also, there's a little hole in the tensioner to put a pin in to hold it out of the way. An appropriately sized nail works nicely.
If you get it on and it runs strangely, you may be off by one tooth. Symptoms would be strong acceleration off the line, but poor high rev power, or vice versa. Had this happen when I had a cam installed (didn't want to do it myself) and the mechanic got it wrong by one tooth.
