Default Transmission Dipstick tube

I need to remove the dipstick tube and drop the pan on an AW70 Transmission on our 1990 Volvo 240 to replace a leaking pan gasket and a broken kickdown cable. Any tips on removing the tube and nuts. I have heard horror stories and don't want to have to replace the pan......if I could even find one. Thanks for any help.

DO NOT attempt to remove the dipstick tube from the pan. (you will regret it) Simply remove the starter bolts (maybe disconnect battery first) and lower the pan with the dipstick tube still attached.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll do it that way, as it sounds a lot less troublesome....
