My car says it needs Dextron IID but I can't find that anywhere. does anyone know an alternative? I have a 1991 Volvo 740

 

As manufacturers improve and make changes to the fluid, they come out with a new designation and commonly make the new fluid "backwards compliant" meaning that it replaces all prior versions. It is a little like software where version 2 replaces version 1 so you can't find version 1 anymore.

For your car, plain old Dexron is fine. What you buy at Wal Mart that will say Dexron Mercon will work just fine.
