Proud new owner of a 92 Volvo 240 wagon and I noticed my rear door speakers tweeters weren't working. Bought some 4 inch Kenwood Tweeters and popped off the Volvo HT-168 grill and noticed the speakers 4 screws weren't screws at all. Couldn't pop it out with a fine flat head and wondering if any of y'all had luck uninstalling the old (I'm guessing original) speakers?!?
thanks! Hit me up this weekend so I can work on it my day off Sunday!
those might have been a dealer install... not sure rear speakers came from the factory on any 240. yeah, drill out the rivets, start with a 1/8" drill bit, if the rivet doesn't come apart, go up to 5/32" ...
My 1993 240 wagon has OEM Volvo speakers as did my 1991 240 sedan. The door panels have an area that would be cut out if rear door speakers were optioned. On my sedan I replaced the rear door panels that had speakers with door panels that didn't. I then extended the factory wiring and added 1990's vintage flat mount speakers on the rear parcel shelf behind the headrests.

sorry to reply to an old thread I’m hoping you see this. do you know what speaker boxes those are that you used on your rear deck? I’m trying to find them online and can’t for the life of me.
