Volvo 240 sedan spare tire relocation?

Volvo 240 sedan spare tire relocation?
I noticed the spare is just In the trunk of the 240 sedan and I was wondering if I could relocate It to anywhere else besides the hood roof or top of trunk. Also not just sitting inside the car
i was thinking I could mount it on the bottom where the spare usually is on modern SUV’s

240 sedan spares go on the side of the trunk, on edge, with the toolkit straped inside the spare. on non-US cars you can fit two standard spares in there and still have a huge trunk. on US models, the evaporative plumbing on the gas filler line gets in the way of having a spare on that side.
there's no room under the car for the spare, it would scrape and stuff. SUV's and pickup trucks with spares under the back are much higher off the ground.

was originally a rubber strap across the spare that secures it there, one end is hooked to a tab on the wheel well below the hinge, and the other end is hooked to a tab near the tail light. there was also originally a carpet piece that covered the spare, and had a pouch for the tool roll.
