Hello Fellow Volvo enthusiasts;

When I first bought my used 1988 Volvo 740 it would stall out when trying to shift from 1st to 2nd gear. Sometimes downshifting from 2nd to first. It took a min. to get the grove and flow of the car's shift and timing but once I got it the problem seemed to go away. But, if I'm at a stop and go to shift to 2nd and if there is a hesitation in shifting, (I have to stop all of a sudden, a ball rolls in front of car.) then try to down shift to start from 1st. she'll stall.

I smell a rich fuel mixture like maybe the timing is off. But it's fuel injected so it must be something with the settings or something.
