Hello.

I have a 1990 240(GL or DL I dont remember which) wagon. After 2 years of working on it when I can afford to buy the parts needed I finally have the engine running to where I trust it to start driving. Now its on to some of the other items needed.

First up are shocks. These are SHOT beyond belief. I thought I would check out on here which to get. I found a thread about shocks and while I was reading about them I saw Nivomat(sp?) mentioned several times. It seems that IF a car has it we have to get the right shocks or a conversion kit from IPD.

When I got home I opened the Haynes manual(worst manual I EVER bought) I could not find any mention of Nivomat in it when reading about the suspension & shocks.

So.

What is Nivomat and how can I tell if I have it or not?

I pretty much decided to get KYB shocks. I found some on Ebay for about $130.

This auction is about to end but they always have more.

Will I need a conversion kit with these?

I know I keep saying shocks but I do actually mean shocks & struts.

The best advice I can ever give someone is a free car is ANYTHING but free! There is a reason someone is giving it away!

Nivomat is the self-leveling suspension.

 

I doubt that you have the NIVOMAT-just take a look! Do they look like regular shocks or do they have weird lines coming out?

 

I finally had a chance to look at them.

I didnt see any lines coming out of them.
