Default 1994 960 RUNNING ON 5 CYLINDERS

Number 5 cylinder on my 1994 960 (160K) stopped firing suddenly. I first thought it might be the coil so I swapped it with number six and still no fire. I pulled the plug and coil out and checked for spark and nothing. Changed the plug and the result was the same. I pulled another plug and coil out just to check the spark and if I was doing it right and there was plenty of spark there, just none on #5. The weird thing is I used a test light on #5 and there is power on both wires coming to the coil.
If anyone could shed a little light on this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

You might want to first compare with your test light between cyl. 5 and another cly.if it is the same then put the test light clip on the + of the battery then check for gorund with another cyl again. You will prob find something missing there. You might have to start tracing the wiring from the coil backwards.I have seen a couple of cars have the wiring shorted out in that harness.I will try looking in my wiring diagrams tom at work and see if i can see anything else for you.Good luck!!!!

After looking at the wiring diagram today you are supposed to have power at both wires a ground signal from the engine control module is what makes the coil spark so i would go back to checking all the wiring sometimes the connectors pull out some when you plug them into the coil so check all the wiring and let me know

Ive been down this road before,
a few months ago a a buddy of mine picked up a 92' 960 for cool $500.00 from the shop I work for , my boss had a lien on it because he told the customer that the head had to come off of it in order to find out why it was missing on cylinder #3, when told of this the customer never had it fixed and failed to pay for the diagnosis and other repairs to the car and just bought himself a new C70! I checked some basic stuff first like all the coils and the wiring finally after all of this I saw the module on the left lower part of the intake looked like it was getting hot and chalky looking so after seeing this decided to replace with one I had in my toolbox for testing and this purpose. After installing it the car ran on all cylinders !! My boss couldnt believe it ! I guess you just always think of the worst case scenario when you work on Mercedes and BMW's like my boss!!! He was really bit by this 960!!
