960 Sedan; 1994/97
Hey all, long time owner of Volvos (and various BMWs) asking now about the 1994 Volvo 960 sedan versus the 1997 960 Sedan.
(I have two good options for purchase, but they are a bit of a distance to drive and look at, so I want to get some insight before I go and look at them)
Overall, I feel better about the '94, but now I'm finding stories about the engine block, and possible head gasket leaking troubles on the higher mileage '94 models.
Anyone have solid input on that?
Also, I have a 1995 850 Sedan and I HATE the crowded driver's foot-well area. In fact, that is part of the reason I may unload the 850 for a 960.
Has anyone noticed that the foot rest for the driver's left foot is not far enough over to the left on the 850? I believe this is because of it being Front Wheel Drive. So, with that said, my other question is this:
Will I have to be concerned about that issue on a 1997 960? Is the foot-well area/space the same on the '94 and the '97 960 sedans?
I've driven a 94 960, but haven't driven a '97 yet. I did drive a '98 V70 and it was just ok.. I don't remember for sure if the footwell area was comfortable or not, but there was a lot of rattling of trim, and the doors were clumsy and noisy while driving.
Any experience shared would be appreciated. Thanks much - Dan
