I own a 1986 Volvo 740 GLE. I bought the car with the blower motor not working and I just replaced it with a new one and it’s not working. I attacked the ground and the other cable but I’m not sure if the ground is in the right spot or what.

 

Do you have power going to the motor? Usually there is a plug. The ground you show is likely not going to the motor itself but to the housing.

The purple wire is power going to the motor. I don’t see any other places where wires could be plugged.

 

The motor should have a place to plug the female plug from the car's wiring. Does the new motor looks like the one you are replacing? Did you test the new motor, it is a simple +/-, easy to bench test.

 

The new motor looks like the one it’s replacing. I didn’t test the motor. There’s only one plug on the motor, take a better picture of it tomorrow.

 

Here’s the new blower motor installed. It’s now working.
