Hi-

Front door handle on my 97 960 is broken. The little eyelet that the door actuator hooks on has broken off the inside of the handle. Tried to swap the passenger for the driver handle, but could not figure out how to get the actuator out of the passenger one. There isn't room to get the hook out of the eyelet....or for that matter, the same problem would exist trying to put it back in....no room to maneuver the hook into the eye...

Anybody done this before? Do i need to remove the whole door latch as well as the handle?

A real PITA, since it's the driver's door.....

If you remove the passenger side handle there should be a screw that holds the entire button setup in the handle. Then it will slide out of the plastic handle and you can do what you need to.

 

Thanks Tech- I was able to get the door handles switched without removing that screw- but I appreciate the info.
