Default Engine question

I have always wondered on my dad's 1986 760 Turbo car if the boost can be easily raised without detonation. Can this be done and what type of boost controller do you guys recommend? Also I notice and hear a little bit of lifter noise when accelerating, is this common with these motors? Thanks.

You can turn the boost up a little by adjusting the waste gate valve. You can also T the vaccum line to the waste gate and install a pressure regulator. The tapping is probably the valves needing to be adjusted.
