Question Factory Alarm triggered for no reason, won't shut off!

For some reason, the alarm on my '97 960 wagon has triggered and won't shut off. The car was unlocked when it started. It has never done this for the year that I have owned it and I can't figure out how to make it stop. I did pull the fuse as a temporary fix for it but that also controls the horn. Now that I am up for reinspection, I need to have a working horn. I do not have a key fob for it nor am I sure they had them back them. I have tried unlocking the door with the key to no avail.

Any suggestions on how to make it stop? It's the repetitive blinking horn and blinking parking lights, car still able to start when going off type of alarm (how is that for a description?)

I believe 97s have factory alarms with remote/fobs. You may have to go to the dealer or a competent alarm place to have the thing deactivated. Do a Google search, see what it takes; I am sure they sell the fobs on ebay--the info is out there!

This happened on my 19 s90. I simply removed the fuse responsible for the alarm.

I did that, unfortunately it also controls the car horn - see above.

I did finally figure it out btw, After reading through the owners manual I came to this paragraph in the alarm section and the genius light lit up -

Never use your key fob to lock the car while you are inside the car. This will also engage the alarm system and when you open the door to exit the car, the alarm will activate. If this happens, simply unlock the car with the key fob to deactivate the alarm

When this happened, my teenage son was waiting in the car for me. For whatever reason, he must of locked the car while waiting, with the central lock button. He then must of opened the door from the inside when he got tired of waiting, thus triggering the alarm. Since I do not have the key fobs, I unlocked the drivers door with the key, still beeping... ran around the other side and unlocked the passenger door with the key and the alarm finally shut off.

Moral of the story - No matter how old your kids are, they will still play with the buttons of the car.
