Fixing up a 1990 760 GLE... Yes or No?
Here's the scoop...
Long about 1990, my ex wife and I lived in Oceanside, CA and bought 2 (yes 2) new Volvos... A 740 Turbo Wagon and a 760 GLE Sedan... The wagon was the wife's and the sedan was mine.... Then 6 months later I bought an Explorer in addition to both and made wife very mad.. But anyway....
Through the many years, 3 kids and lots of living and life... The Turbo wagon is in the loving hands of my daughter who has never wrecked it and refuses to let go of it, even with 278K.... Its the "Family Heriloom"
The poor 760 on the other hand, got passed to a friend in 1996 who was in diar need of a car and then when he was done with it in 1998 (it was cared for) it got sold to my cousin and his wife, who, have cared for it and since they where a Military family, its been moved and trucked all over, but she doesn't drive much, so in the time they have had it, its gotten 75K on it in 14 years!
Right now it sits at 150K and it runs and drives... Its had some service work done and been maintained by a number of Independant shops and several Volvo dealers, but it needs love.. They offered it back to me and I am trying to determine if its worth it..
This has the V6 in it and I have really mixed things on the V6, but this one is from 1990, so it should be better??? The car is due for a full service, brakes, tires, a/c compressor, rear struts, and some other things... What should I be looking for??
Any help is appricated... I have a 2000 Acura TL that after 10.5 years and 145K miles its had more issues than a Yugo and a Daewoo combined... I need a car as a stop gap mesure for a while until I can afford to upgrade in October and then it would be nice to have as a 3rd car to putz around with...
But is it worth it??? What shold I look for??? Help and thanks again

My first post on here, but I have a few 700/900 series Volvo and would, therefore, consider myself competent...lol!
I'd say definately go for it!
The last version of the PRV - B280F is a great runner and, if cared for, really reliable.
I don't know how the prices go at where you live, but here, prices for what you've listed aren't really high.
Anyways, it the car has only 150k, and all it needs is "some love", I'd take it any day over that Acura...
Regards

Is it worth what? If it's about the money then how much are you getting it back for? Getting back a car you used to own is kind of interesting; then again it may be disappointing. A 1990 with a 150k is not finished by any means unless it was beat to death so you should be able to make it into a daily driver with no problem. Then again, there are many "depends" such as who had it, how it lived, where it lived, who worked on it, how picky you are etc. Hard to have a definitive opinion without seeing it.
